Design and Implementation of Access Point for the Wi-Fi Broadcasting System

The Wi-Fi broadcasting system with its advantage of short installation time, low installation cost and broadband service, has expanded the availability throughout the places where sending large amount of multimedia data simultaneously to the majority of users is required such as classroom, stadium and meeting room. The Wi-Fi broadcasting system is composed of broadcasting server, broadcasting packet transmitting apparatus (AP: Access Point) and receiver. To transmit the broadcasting packet when there are several APs of different purposes, the AP that support QoS of the broadcasting packet and multi-rate is required. This paper aims to design and implement this AP. The broadcasting packet does not have recovery mechanism of MAC layer, it has to recover the packet loss with FEC method and understanding the features of the broadcasting packet loss is significant. To achieve this, we created the experimental network based on the implemented APs and analyzed the features of the loss.
