This paper introduces a novel approach for extending DMB service area by making use of existing IP networks. DMBonIP Gateway, which provides RTP/SDP based internet streaming service by generating media streams in real time from the DMB ensemble received from the air, is introduced for this purpose. This paper addresses key functional components of DMBonIP Gateway and how they are designed and implemented.
